E-Commerce has been going on for a number of years, based on formalized procedures and international standards. The focus has lately changed to more emphasis on open forms of electronic trade via the Internet. The foundation Norsk EDIPRO (now called NorStella) was established in 1994 with the purpose to further electronic trade and efficient trade procedures in the private sector, and in the interchange between the private and the public sector. Lawyers in FOYEN have through participation in the Working Group for Law and Security in Norsk Edipro (Norstella) participated in the drafting of Standard Interchange Agreements.

Lawyers in FOYEN did in 2000 draft guidelines for the use of Norstella’s standard form agreements and have for a number of years participated on behalf of Norstella internationally in UN/CEFACT - Legal Group, reviewing legal issues and drafting standard form agreements for e-commerce. FOYEN continuously assists clients with review, advice and facilitation of solutions for e-commerce, including advice related to choice of agreement mechanisms and use of electronic signatures.
